Domestic Violence

Domestic violence is when one person in a relationship uses control, fear, or harm against the other. It can happen in romantic relationships, families, or even between roommates. It’s not just about physical violence—it can also be emotional, verbal, financial, or psychological abuse.

Narcissistic Abuse

Narcissistic abuse is a form of emotional and psychological manipulation used by someone with narcissistic traits to control, belittle, or dominate another person. It often happens in relationships with narcissistic partners, parents, or even bosses and friends.

What Domestic Violence Can Look Like

People experiencing domestic violence might feel trapped, scared to leave, or even blame themselves. The abuser often uses manipulation, threats, or isolation to maintain control, making it even harder for the victim to reach out for help. Domestic violence can happen to anyone, regardless of age, gender, or background.

What Narcissistic Abuse Can Look Like

This kind of abuse can be subtle, making the victim question their own reality. It often includes gaslighting (making someone doubt their own memories or feelings), emotional manipulationblame-shifting, and constant criticism. A narcissistic abuser might also give love and approval only when it benefits them, then withdraw it to keep the victim feeling insecure and dependent. Over time, narcissistic abuse can wear down self-esteem, cause anxiety and depression, and make the victim feel like they’re “never enough.”
